What started as a fun, backyard hobby has evolved into the Old Village Roastery. Because there is very little control of the temperature of an open wood fire, the forge roasting process requires a great deal of skill and intuition.

The Bean Counter
In modern society, a bean-counter might refer to a book-keeper or an accountant. Meet the Old Village Roastery’s Bean-Counter. Cheryl literally counts the beans during the bagging process to ensure accuracy. She can often be seen at the scale adding one bean at a time to ensure that the weight is accurate. This is probably how the “bean-counter” originated.
